Last Rites For Thos. Robinson Held Sunday P.M.

Funeral service for Thomas Robinson, 79, longtime resident of the Shipley community were held Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Ryan Funeral Home with Rev. Floyd A. Smith officiating.

Organ music was played at the opening and close of the service.

The casket bearers were L. A. McBride, Harve Jensen, James Day, Sam Arnold, Orville Nelson and Sam Switzer.

Burial was in the Nevada cemetery.

Obituary

Thomas Robinson, farmer of Story county for many years, died at the Mary Greeley hospital, Friday evening, April 14, 1950 as a result of burns suffered while he was burning stubble at his farm home one half mile west of Shipley on the same day.

Mr. Robinson was born near Cambridge, Ohio some 79 years ago. He moved to Story county while a young man and has continued to live in this county until his death. He was a farm owner and did his own farming until a few years ago. He then rented his land but continued to live in the home on the farm. His specialty, during the earlier years of his farming was raising hogs. More recently he gave himself to the practice of general farming.

He was married to Mary Ballard and two children were born into the family. He is survived by his wife, who lives with the daughter in Des Moines, and the two children, Ella Robinson of Des Moines, and Earl Robinson of Ankeny. There are two grandsons: Duane and Larry Robinson. Two brothers also survive, namely: R. H. Robinson of Colo, and James Robinson of Graettinger.
