Hold Funeral Services For Tilghman Morrison
Funeral services for Tilghman H. Morrison were conducted from the Collins Church of Christ, Saturday, Jan. 14 by the pastor, Rev. Henry Esch.
Burial was in the Collins cemetery.
A quartet of Mary Tomlinson, Mabel Mullihan, David Hoover and Thomas Huntrods provided the vocal music. Mrs. Virginia Fertig accompanied on the piano.
Pall bearers were John Crabb, Walter Link, Ross Link, Glenn Morrison, Jess Carver and James Wall.
Obituary
Tilghman H. Morrison, son of Jefferson and Anna Morrison, was born in Jasper county, Iowa, July 9, 1876, and passed away at his home in Collins on Wednesday, Jan. 11, 1950, at the age of 73 years, six months and two days.
He was united in marriage with Christena Link on Dec. 17, 1895, at Farrar. Two children were born to this union, Doris Duesbury and Jefferson Morrison, who helped care for him in his last sickness and were present at the time of his death. His wife, Christena, preceded him in death on March 2, 1929; also two sisters, Viola and Clara Carver. He and his son, Jefferson, lived alone on the home farm, near Collins for a long time.
He was united in marriage with Flora Vasey* on July 3, 1934. Mr. Morrison spent all of his life in the vicinity of Collins. He was a member of the Collins community.
Survivors
He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Flora; his daughter, Doris Duesbury; his son, Jefferson; a grandson, John Duesbury, all of Collins.
Also five step-children, William Vasey of Nevada, Leona Battles of Ames, Charles Vasey of Mundelenin, Ill., Lenora Luing of Collins and Albert Vasey of Des Moines; eight step-grandchildren; two brothers, Will and Tom, both of Collins; one sister, Grace Hall of Des Moines, and a host of other relatives and friends.
*SUBMITTER'S NOTE: Flora Vasey Morrison was born Flora Lenora Ozmun, daughter of William Andrew Ozmun and Clara Bell Denniston. Flora married first Chauncey Weaver Vasey on 11 March 1914 in Collins, Story County, Iowa. Chauncey Weaver Vasey died 21 April 1930 in Collins Twp., Story County, Iowa.
