Ames, IA - Raymond E. Thompson of Ames died of a heart ailment Sunday at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines. He was 75. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Ascension Lutheran Church, of which he was a member. Burial will be in Mount Olive Cemetery at Randall.

Mr. Thompson, a lifelong Story County resident, retired after 20 years in the agronomy department at Iowa State University and was a member of the American Rabbit Breeder Association.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie; three sons, Jimmie of Ames, Roger of Council Bluffs and LaVerne of Elk River, Minn.; a stepson, Tim Grewell of Ames; a daughter, Linda Gould of Reinbeck;; three stepdaughters, Jeannine Grewell of Kansas City, Mo., and Sheila Gerndt and Sue Grewell, both of Ames; three sisters, Margaret Donhowe of California and Myrtle Caruth and Alma Lenning, both of Story City; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 tonight at Stevens Memorial Chapel and from noon until service time Wednesday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. ~ The Des Moines (IA) Register Tues 13 Aug 1991.
