Obituary of Mrs. Paul Teig
Lakefield Standard: Mrs. Paul Teig was born near Roland, on the 16th day of March, 1894, and at the time of her death had attained the age of 26 years, 11 months and 20 days. In the fall of 1908 she was confirmed in the Zions Lutheran church of the same place. In March, 1909, she together with the other members of the family moved to Lakefield, Minn., where she has since made her home.
March 14, 1917, she became the wife of Paul Teig. To this union one child Kermit Clifford, was born. After their marriage they have resided on the K. K. Teig farm in Belmont township and here they had a most happy home. On the morning of the 14th of February she was suddenly taken ill. A physician was called and it was found that she had an attack of appendicitis. A nurse was secured and the best medical attention was given, and for some time hopes were entertained for her recovery, but such it should not be. On the 2d of March, she became worse, an operation being necessary. Thursday afternoon she was taken to Heron Lake hospital and Saturday morning at 8:30 she submitted to the operation which proved to be very serious. She suffered great pain but bore it patiently, never complaining. After the operation she was asked if she was tired and she answered that she was not as she was resting in the arms of Jesus. At 2:30 Sunday morning she quietly passed from this life of trouble. Her husband, mother and nurse were with her until the end.
Gertie Erickson Teig leaves to mourn her death, her loving husband, Paul Teig, her three year old son, Kermit, her mother, Mrs. Carrie Erickson, four sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Betsy Swenson of Crookston, Mrs. Edith Lura of McCallsburg, Iowa, Edward, Arthur, Isaac, Esther, Lillie and Kurnel, besides many other relatives and friends. The funeral was held from the house and from Bethlehem Lutheran church Wednesday afternoon, the Rev. S. Gjerde conducting the service. The pall bearers were the six brothers of the bereft husband, Cornelius, Carl, Andrew, Alfred, Joseph and Kenneth.
Those who attended the funeral from a distance were: Mr. and Mrs. K. K. Teig, Roland, Iowa; Mrs. and Mrs. Martin Lura and daughter, Myrtle, McCallsburg, Iowa; Mrs. Goodman Swenson, Crookston, Minn.; Mrs. Roy Tinkham, Fisher, Minn.; Mrs. Thomas Lekness, Hayfield, Minns; Mrs. H. M. Rasmussen and Mrs. Nels Quelland, Williams, Iowa; Ole Teig and Henry Tollefson, Windom, and Lillie and Roy Olson from Jewell, Iowa.
