DEATH OF OLE A. GAARD
Sudden Death of Former Roland Resident
Ole A. Gaard, a former resident of this place, but who has been living in Marshalltown for the past ten years, died at his home in that city Saturday night from pneumonia. Mr. Gaard had been sick only a week. He was taken sick on Thursday and word was sent to his mother, Mrs. R. Skogerboe and brother J. T. Gaard of this place, who at once went to his bedside.
The funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the residence at Marshalltown. Interment was made in the Riverside cemetery.
Ole A. Gaard was born in Stavanger, Norway, on June 15, 1878, and came to this country with his parents when but three years old. Hes parents settled in Story City where he grew to manhood. On August 10, 1905, he was united in marriage to Miss Della Moses of Story City, who now together with three children Harold, Ielene and Emory survive him as do his mother, Mrs. R. Skogerboe, a brother J. T. Gaard of this place and Ben Gaard of Stanhope.
Mr. Gaard was for a number of years agent for the M. & St. L. at this place, but resigned about ten years ago to accept a position with the Western Grocery Mills at Marshalltown. At the time of his death he held the position of cashier and was considered one of the most valued employees of the company.
