Collins Farmer Is Dead, Victim of a Heart Attack

Special to the Journal:
Collins, Jan. 7--Jesse F. Higgins, age 43, died suddenly from a heart attack while at his home on the Wyatt Carr farm southeast of here Wednesday at 1:30 p. m.

Higgins, who had lived and farmed in this community for about three years, was injured while operating a power corn picker on Nov. 7 on the Shively farm. He was taken to the Iowa Lutheran hospital, Des Moines where a mangled leg was amputated and he returned home before Christmas and had been able to get around on crutches.

The family came here from south of Des Moines about three years ago and he has been operating the McAllister farm, formerly the Carr farm.

He leaves his wife and five children, the eldest being about 19 years of age. The children are Jack, Cloretta, Len, Don, Roger and George. He also leaves his father who is in Des Moines and a brother and sister in southern Iowa.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 12 o'clock at the Methodist Episcopal church in Collins, with Rev. Ida Roberts in charge. Burial will be at the Avon cemetery southeast of Des Moines.
