From Story City News, Story City, Story County, Iowa, published Friday, July 22nd, 1887.

Mrs. Christina F. Heers died after a long and severe illness on Monday morning at her residence four miles west of town. Mrs. Heers was born in Wertemberg, Germany, August 3rd, 1834 and emigrated to America in 1856. She married Mr. H. C. W. Heers, May 6th, 1858 at Des Moines, Iowa, where they continued to live until 1873 when them moved upon a farm six miles south of Des Moines. They came with their family to the farm west of town three years ago and here they lost their second son soon after their removal. Her husband and two sons survive her, having lost an only daughter at Des Moines, two years and one half of age. Mrs. Heers was a woman of exemplary character and her family will have fond recollections of her whose place none but a mother can fill. An autopsy was made by Drs. Emmet and C. W. Allen, at the request of the family, as one physician had stated that she was suffering from cancer of the stomach. A large sized gall-stone was found impacted in the common gall duct and was the exciting cause of death. No cancer or any appearance of one was found. Mrs. Heers has been a sufferer from Biliary Calculi for seven years and endured almost constant pain for the past three months.
