From the Story City News, published in Story City, Story County, Iowa on Friday, July 8th, 1887.

Mrs. Jonas Travaas died of puerperal peritonitis on Saturday evening at five o'clock having been so seriously ill only 24 hours. The funeral occurred on Sunday afternoon attended by a large number of friends and neighbors. Two days later the little babe died of inflammation of the bowels caused principally by the change of food which the little one had to be fed during his mother's sickness. Mr. Travaas has our sympathy in his affliction and we hope health and strength may be given him to care for the three little ones so suddenly left to his care.
