GILBERT PIONEER DIED EARLY TODAY
J. A. GIBSON VICTIM OF CANCER AND COMPLICATIONS, FUNERAL SATURDAY
Special to the Journal.
Gilbert, Feb. 28--James Albert Gibson, 73, lifelong resident of this community, died at his home in Gilbert at midnight. He had been sufferer from a cancer and other complications for the past year.The services will be held Saturday afternoon, with a brief service at the home at 1:30 and the funeral at the Gilbert Congregational church at 2:00, with the pastor, Rev. J. P. Himmell in charge.
Burial will be in the Gilbert cemetery.
Mr. Gibson was born in Marshall county, June 17, 1862 and when a small child came with his parents to Franklin township and settled on a farm two miles west of Gilbert. This had been his home since.
He leaves besides his wife, three sons, five daughters and 12 grandchildren, all of whom live in this community.
The sons are Oscar, David and Charles Gibson, while the daughters are Mrs. Ira Brown, Mrs. Ed Inglsby, Mrs. Cornelius Hanson, Mrs. Hans O. Hanson and Mrs. Reuben Benn.
