Obituary of Mrs. Lien

Mrs. Torger Lien's maiden name was Mary Egna. She was born in Skaanewik, Norway, Dec. 17, 1848, being 70 years and 3 months at the time of her death. In 1881 she with her husband came to this country coming directly to Story City near which place they have resided until this time. Seven children were born to this union, two of them dying in infancy. The five, who with their aged father remain to mourn their sad loss are Mrs. Grant Myers of this place, Mrs. Archie Leonard of Des Moines, Ia., Oman and Nels Lien of this place and Bertha Lien of Des Moines. Mrs. Lien had been in her usual health until Thursday evening at supper time when she was stricken with the illness which caused her death Friday evening. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her as she was a very willing worker in the church as well as in her home. The funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the Immanuel church Rev. Heimark officiating. Miss Inger Hovland sang, "Tank naar engang hver taage er forsvunden." The floral contributions and the large concourse of friends who had assembled to pay their last tribute of love to the departed show the esteem in which she was held.
