Funeral Services For Henry Gord

Slater, Jan. 29--Funeral services for Henry Gord, 67, were held Friday afternoon at the Jennings Gord home and at two at the Bethlehem church. The services were in charge of Rev. E. R. Rorem. Many beautiful floral offerings surrounded the casket. The pall bearers were Calfing Finch of Kelley, Henry Sampson, Erick Ryen, Christ Tweedt, Ole Frovick and Henry Roney. Two solos "Abide With Me" and "Sometime We'll Understand" were sung by Mrs. M. S. Heggen.

Henry Gord was born Sept. 4, 1866 and died Jan. 23, 1934. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. Nels Gord. The family moved here in the 1879. His marriage to Mary Severson took place in 1892. Nine children were born to this union. One boy, Nelson, died in 1916. The children left to mourn his loss are Miss Sadie Gord and Mrs. Ervin Hoinke of Cincinnati, Ohio, Terrance Gord of Wayne, Mich., Harry Gord of Ames, Oney Gord of Des Moines, Jennings, Charles and Bert of Slater. All were present at the services with the exception of the daughters who were unable to be here. He also leaves four brothers, Ole Gord of Badger, Tom Gord of Arlington, Texas, Jesse Gord of Ogden and Pete Gord of Marshalltown, three sisters, Mrs. Della Thompson of Fort Dodge, Mrs. Andrew Anderson of Ames and Miss ---a Gord of Des Moines.
