Pettinger Funeral Sunday Afternoon

Funeral services for Mrs. Joseph Pettinger of Milford township, who died at Iowa Sanitarium early Friday morning, will be held at the Lutheran church in Ames Sunday afternoon at 2:30, after which interment will be in the Ames cemetery. The service will be in charge of her pastor, Rev. L. A. Pierson.

Mrs. Pettinger was born at Twin Grove, Illinois, 70 years ago October 4 and had come with her husband to Story county in 1880 and here had been her home since.

She leaves besides her husband, one son Clarence, who is an invalid and confined to his bed, and an adopted daughter Nellie, who is at home.* There is also a nephew Calvin Thompson who lived with them for many years but is now married and has a home of his own.

Death was due to heart trouble and other complications of a number of years standing. She had been brought to Iowa sanitarium a week ago today.

The Pettinger family had lived in the northeast quarter of section 31, Milford township, for many years and were well-known and respected in the neighborhood in which they had lived so long.

*SUBMITTER'S NOTE: Nellie Maude Pettenger was born Nellie Maude Huntley and was the daughter of Frank D. Huntley and Harriet E. Smith. She was adopted by her half-aunt and her husband, Matilda Smith and Joseph Pettenger.
