FORMER STORY COUNTY MAN DEAD
FRED V. HUNTROD VICTIM OF CANCER, TO BE BROUGHT BACK FOR BURIAL
Fred V. Huntrod, 65, for many years a resident of Story county, up in the neighborhood of McCallsburg, died at a hospital in Long Beach Sunday morning , and the body will be brought back to Nevada and taken to McCallsburg for the funeral and interment. Cancer of the stomach was the cause of death.
The funeral party, accompanying the body will leave Long Beach Tuesday evening and is expected to arrive in Nevada Friday morning. The body will then be taken to McCallsburg and the funeral will be held at the Presbyterian church Saturday at 2:00, after which interment will be in the McCallsburg cemetery. The services will be in charge of Rev. Baumgardner of the Evangelical church of Zearing.
A daughter, Mrs. L. T. Olson of Lansing, accompanied by her husband Rev. Olson, had gone to California recently, called there by the critical condition of the father.
Mr. Huntrod leaves his wife, three sons and four daughters. The sons are Harrison Huntrod of Nevada and George and Frank of California. The daughters are Mrs. Olson of Lansing, Iowa and Mrs. Roy Baumgardner, Mrs. O. J. Helland and Mrs. Glen Boston, all of McCallsburg.
Mr. Huntrod was for many years a well respected and prosperous farmer of the McCallsburg neighborhood with many friends and acquaintances in Nevada and other parts of the county.
He had left here about 9 years ago and located in Long Beach, but was back here last year and enjoyed an extended visit during the summer.
