Has Been Resident of Zearing for Third of Century

Special to the Journal
Zearing, Nov. 4--Funeral services for Mrs. Carl Greenberg, 69, who died at her home here October 26, were held Sunday at the Evangelical church and interment was in the Zearing cemetery.

The pallbearers were Henry Hoberland, William Holcomb, A. D. Hix, Geo. W. Phillips, Ora Fish and Frank Cerka. The family have lived in Zearing for a third of a century and the funeral was attended by a large circle of friends, besides the many relatives. Mrs. Greenberg was held in the highest esteem in the community.

Miss Emma Paul was born February 20, 1858 in Richtenberg, Germany, and died October 26, 1927 aged 69 years, 8 months and 6 days. She was married to Carl Greenberg in 1878 at Richtenberg, Germany and to this union was born seven children. In 1881 they moved to Illinois and in 1882 moved to State Center. It was in 1894 that they moved to Zearing where they have resided ever since. The leaves to mourn her death her husband Carl Greenberg and six grandchildren, Clifford Greenberg of Eldora, Miss Vera Kumrow and sister Helen and sister, and brother John Kumrow of Radcliffe and little Charles Cook of Lawndale, Calif.

Mrs. Greenberg had attended a meeting of the Willing Workers on Wednesday and seemed to be feeling unusually well and enjoyed the day spent together with her friends. She came home and had been spending the evening wit her neighbor Mrs. Mary Adams. A short time after he had retired she mentioned to her husband she had trouble with breathing and fell into his arms and a few minutes after the doctor arrived breathed her last. Just seven weeks before her death her daughter Mrs. Kumrow passed away very suddenly and five weeks ago her last daughter Mrs. B. L. Cook died. This leaves Mr. Greenberg practically alone, he is the last one of his family left. The sympathy of the friends goes out to the husband and grandchildren.
