OBITUARY OF SIMON HAYNES.

Well Known Boone Man Called to Beyond.

The funeral services for Simon P. Haynes whose death from blood poison occurred at Eleanor Moore hospital in Boone on July 13, was held Friday afternoon and interment was in the Boone cemetery. The services were conducted by Rev. C. E. Lookingbill of the Church of the Brethren at Maxwell.

Haynes was taken to the hospital for an operation less than a week before being first taken ill on Friday of last week while at his work in the Quinn Iron Works in Boone, where he received the scratch which resulted in his death.

Simon Peter Haynes was born May 31, 1858 at Mt. Carroll, Illinois, and departed this life at Boone, July 13 1921, age 63 years, 1 month and 13 days.

When a small lad he moved with his parents to Boone where he attended the public schools and when a young an came over to Story county where he met Miss Emily Francis Jones, to whom he was united in marriage in 1893 and with whom he lived for 28 years.

To this union 8 children were born of whom five are still living. Those who had passed away before the father were Clifford who died in infancy, Lester Carl who died October 22, 1918 and Hugh Edward who died June 5, 1921.

The children living are Mrs. Bulewh Oglivie of Nevada and Arnold, Edgar, Raymond and Goldie of Boone. He also, leaves three sisters they being Mrs. John Pines, Mrs. Mary Overman and Mrs. John Bovey, with a host of other relatives and wide circle of friends.

Mr. Haynes united with the church of the Brethern about 5 years ago and had since lived a life of faithful Christian servitude. He was a kind and loving husband and father; always trying to do everything possible to make life's pathway pleasant and agreeable for others.

He will be missed in the home and by the neighbors and friends but those who know him best are sure that he had been called to a better world.

His life had been one of many sorrows, hardships and disappointments but he had met all reverses and sorrows with a smile of acceptance and he will be well remembered.
