Judy Anne VerSteegh, 73, passed away at her home in Anna, Texas, on August 19th, 2019 after a brief illness.

She was born July 10, 1946, to Harold and Bea (Shellberg) Albright in Red Oak, Iowa. She graduated from Griswold High School in 1964. While in high school she was active in concert, jazz, and marching band playing the saxophone. She sang in glee club and mixed chorus and played piano at church and school. She was inducted in the National Honor Society and was awarded the John Phillip Sousa award in music. She also participated in Pottawattamie County 4-H.

In 1965 she graduated from AIB in Des Moines, Iowa. In 1966 she married Les VerSteegh at the Central Church of Christ in Griswold, Iowa. They had 2 children Donna and Thomas. They lived in Ames, IA where she worked four years at Iowa State University. She began working for 3M in Ames in 1970 where she held several positions, and retired after 37 1/2 years. She was a member of American Business Women's Association for many years.

Judy inherited a good work ethic from her parents. After retirement she continued to work part-time at various gathering places - The Tea Room in Story City, The Dutch Oven Bakery, and Great Harvest Bakery in Ames. She enjoyed playing in the bell choir at Grace Methodist Church in Story City for several years.

She moved to Texas in January 2019 and worked at Market Street Grocery Store in McKinney, Texas until her health began to fail in May.

Judy always had an infectious smile and encouraging words for the people she was around. She was happiest spending time with family and friends and enjoyed making new friends where ever she went.

Her family remembers her as a wonderful mom, sister, aunt, and grandma who will be dearly missed.

Judy was preceded in death by her father, Harold in 1966, and her mother, Bea in 2013

Judy is survived by her daughter, Donna Stubberud and grand daughter, Jessica Stubberud of Anna, Texas, and her son, Thomas VerSteegh and wife Kim of Godley, Texas. She is also survived by her brother, Jim Albright and his wife Lorna of Atlantic, Iowa, and nieces Amy McLaren (Devin), Sydney and Cael, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Alyson Peters, Kyler and Elly of Anita, Iowa.
