Funeral Services Held Today for Mrs. Brooks; Native of Indiana

Funeral services for Mrs. Nancy Oxley-Brooks were held at the Evangelical church this afternoon at 2:30 with Rev. Yackel in charge. Burial was in the Nevada cemetery.

Pallbearers were J. R. Borgen, H. M. Vinsel, James McDaniels, Chas. H. Hall, H. P. Mallory and O. O. Albery.

Nancy L. Oxley-Books, was born June 24, 1859, daughter of Jared L. and Susan A. Smith, near Losantaville, Indiana. Her early life was spent in Indiana. In 1884 she came with her parents and husband to Story county, Iowa, and settled in Nevada which has since been her home.

In 1881 she was married to E. H. Oxley in Indiana. To this union was born three children, two sons, Clinton and Smith, and one daughter, Esla, of which all passed away in infancy. The husband E. H. Oxley passed away Feb. 10, 1921.

She was converted in the year 1890 in the teachings of Rev. Lovelace of Nevada and since that time had been a continuous worker in the church when able to attend. She was again married to Jos. A. Brooks, March 13, 1924, he passed away Jan. 23, 1937.

She had made her home in Ames at her sister-in-law's, Mrs. Lizzie Smith for the past two years.

Mrs. Brooks was admitted to the Iowa sanitarium May 29, 1939, and passed away at 5:05 a. m. Monday, May 29, 1939 at the age of 79 years, 11 months and 5 days.
