Richard B. Barrett Dies.
Richard B. Barrett, ex-state superintendent of public instruction, died at Methodist hospital, in Des Moines, from complications resulting from mastoid operations. Since the end of his term as state superintendent, Mr. Barrett completed the law course at Drake university, receiving his degree with the class of 1904, and going immediately to Ames, where he took the position of teacher of civics in the college, combining this with considerable work as a lecturer throughout the state.
He was brought to Des Moines some time ago for an operation, but his condition had advanced so far that the physicians gave little hope of his recovery, and a second operation took place, after which he sank rapidly.
Mr. Barrett was 48 years of age. He leaves a wife and several children. The body was taken to Ames where burial will take place.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he is buried in the Iowa State University Cemetery and was born Oct. 1, 1858 and died March 3, 1909; however, it shows his middle name as Cornelius.
