Funeral Services for Well Known Woman
Special to the Journal.
Slater, April 23--Funeral services from Mrs. Amos A. Lande were held Sunday afternoon at two o'clock at the Bethlehem church. The services were in charge of her pastor, Rev. E. R. Rorem.The large number of unusually beautiful floral offerings paid silent tribute to the departed friend. The Woman's Auxiliary society of the Bethlehem church gave ten dollars to the the mission in her memory.
The flowers were in charge of Miss Naomi Johnson and Mrs. A. J. Reinertson.
Miss Ruth Halverson sang "My Jesus as Thou Wilt" and "My Faith Looks Up to Thee" by the Treble Clef chorus.
The pall bearers were P. L. Nelson, Chas. Skortman, Tom Olson, E. C. Rood, M. S. Heggen and A. L. Peterson.
Burial was made in the Bethlehem cemetery.

Betsy Serene Hill was born January 16, 1868 on a farm three miles east of Slater and died at her home here April 18, 1935 at the age of 67 years, three months and two days.
Her parents were Barney and Sarah Hill. She was confirmed in the Lutheran faith December 18, 1881. Her marriage to A. A. Lande took place October 25, 1888, and they made Slater their home, where Mr. Lande was a druggist.
Mrs. Lande was a devoted mother and always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need, both in acts of kindness and words of cheer. Her memory will long be cherished by those who knew her best. She was an active member of the Women's Auxiliary society and the Bethlehem church.
Mrs. Lange had been ill the past six months. The first few months were spent at the Lutheran hospital in Des Moines, where she underwent an operation November 17, 1934. She was brought home the first of the year and remained under the care of a nurse till her death. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband and four children, Sanford B. Lande and R. Clayton Lande of Slater, Miss Marie Lande of Des Moines, Miss Alma Lande of Ames, also three grandchildren and one brother, Henry B. Hill of Huxley.
Among those from a distance in attendance at the services were: Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Veatch of Webster City; Don Hunter, Wm. Bower, Ben Blanchard, Misses Galliher, Harriet Taylor, Ada Wood, Kit John, Hazel Bramer, Messrs. and Mesdames Chas. F. Adams, Donald Smith, Roy Cottrill, and K. R. Lake all from Ames; Dr. and Mrs. G. J. Bennett of Waterloo, Miss Bertha Bennett of Kankakee, Ill., John Nelson, Mrs. Nels Nelson of Story City; Mrs. Lela Gray, Mrs. Rachel Johnson, Misses Emma and Rebekah Johnson, Ada Papples, Martha Parkin, Blanche Mendon, Mabel McKarahan, Nora Barnes and Carrie Viland of Des Moines, Harry Landland and son of Nevada; Mr. and Mrs. Ole Langland, J. C. Ersland of Nevada; Miss Carrie Lande of Milroy, Minnesota; and also a number from Huxley, Sheldahl and Kelley.
