Sudden Death of Tom Fitzgerald; Victim Bad Heart

Special to the Journal
Colo, June 27--The community was shocked to learn of the sudden death of Thomas E. Fitzgerald, aged 60, who died suddenly at his home east of town late Saturday afternoon.

Mr. Fitzgerald apparently was in his usual health and had been about the farm during the morning. He had complained of not feeling well and lay down to take a nap shortly after the noon hour and when his wife when in to speak to him at four o'clock found he had passed away only a short time before.

She had gone to his room several times during the afternoon and had found him in natural sleep. When she asked him how he felt he replied he felt much better. She was greatly shocked to find him dead.

Thomas Eugene Fitzgerald was born on a farm southeast of town March 4, 1878 and lived in this vicinity all his life. He was the eldest of a family of six children. He leaves to mourn their loss his wife who was before her marriage Miss Irene Reagan of Chicago and four children: three sons, Thomas, Robert and Francis Fitzgerald, all of Colo, and one daughter Miss Mary Fitzgerald of Des Moines; two sisters Mrs. Joe Croker of Colo, Mrs. Mary Croker of Marshalltown; three brothers Partick D. Fitzgerald of Colo, John Fitzgerald of Colfax and William Fitzgerald of Collins and two granddaughters. Funeral services will be held from the St. Mary's church at Colo at 9 o'clock on Tuesday morning, interment in the St. James cemetery.
