Longtime Nevadan, former Journal employee dies

Peter R. Halleland, 79, long time Nevada resident and former Journal employee, died Wednesday, July 15 at Story County Hospital of a coronary illness. He had been in failing health for over a year.

Halleland was a retired printer and had been typographical foreman for the Nevada Journal for 32 years.

He was born November 3, 1890 to parents Helge and Anna (Kohl) Halleland at Story City. After his marriage to Lillie A. Prill, September 1, 1926 Cedar Rapids, he moved to Nevada where he lived the past 44 years and was a member of the United Methodist Church.

Halleland is survived by his wife and one son Gary of Green Bay, Wisc. Also one brother H. J. Halleland of Randall and four sisters, Mrs. A. L. Born and Mrs. H. J. Jacobson, Story City; Mrs. Lamar Olsan, Springfield, Ill.; and Mrs. E. E. Moore, Webster City, survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held from the Ryan Funeral Home Saturday, July 18 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Azel Smth officiating.

Burial will be in the Story Memorial Gardens at Ames.
