OLSON FUNERAL SET FOR THURSDAY
DEATH OF WOMAN WHO WAS INJURED IN FALL AT McCALLSBURG
Special to the Journal.
McCallsburg, Jan. 11--The funeral services for Mrs. O. W. Olson, 81, who died at her home in this city Monday afternoon, will be held from the Lutheran church at McCallsburg, Thursday afternoon on the eightieth-first anniversary of her birth. Mrs. Olson tripped and fell upon the floor at her home and sustained a broken hip, torn ligaments and internal injuries, the latter of which caused her death.Everything within the power of loving hands and hearts was don for the aged lady but to no avail and she gradually grew weaker until she was called to her heavenly home Monday afternoon at three o'clock. Local doctor and a registered nurse were with her constantly, as well as the family and friends but she was called home.
Besides her broken wrist and ligaments torn loose in her hip, she was hurt internally and that was the cause of her death.
Metta Anderson was born in was born in Stavanger, Norway, Jan. 12, 1841 and died Jan. 9, leaving her almost 81 years of age. She was married to O. W. Oleson in Norway, July 9, 1869. She in company with her husband celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary two years ago when their many relatives and friends had a surprise on them. They continued to make Norway their home until Sept. 11, 1882 when they in company with their children came to America, settling on a farm near Senica, Ill., where they live until February 1893, when they moved onto a farm three and one half miles southwest of McCallsburg where their daughter and husband Fred Jorstad live. Some years ago they sold their farm and moved into town where they were living at the time of her death. To this union eight children were born. Two died while they lived in Illinois at the age of nine and eleven and one died in infancy while they lived in Norway. Five children survive her besides her husband and the children are Messrs. O. V., Andrew an Morgan and two daughters Mrs. Fred Jorstad and Miss Marie who makes her home with her parents.
The funeral will be held on Thursday that being Mrs. Olesons birthday. It will be conducted from the Lutheran church, Rev. J. N. Sandven officiating at 2 o'clock and 1:30 o'clock from the home. The deceased was highly respected woman and had many friends, a lover of children ------ and will be greatly missed by them a-- ----- by all her relatives and friends --- extend our sympathy to --------.
