MR. S. H. DYE
Samuel Harvey Dye was born in Morgan county, Ohio, Nov. 11th, 1828 and died at the home of his daughter Mrs. Joe Sherk, at Wakonda, South Dakota, Feb. 1st, 1918, aged 89 years, 2 months and 20 days. He was married 1848 to Melissa Bloomington Hague, who preceded him to his heavenly home in 1907. During their early married life, they lived near Zionsville, Ind. But in 1852 with wife and one child he removed to Lodi, South Dakota, and shortly after this they moved to Sherry county, Neb., where they endured the hardships of ranch life for 15 years. Both being in poor health they decided to quit the ranch and then made their home most of the time with their two daughters, Mesdames Joseph and Jacob Sherk, at Wakonda, South Dakota. He is survived by Mrs. Dilla Cotton, Yuma, Col.; Mrs. Allie Murray, Mancos, Col.; Mrs. Gertrude Moore, Burlington, Kan.; Mrs. Anna Parcher, Gregory, South Dakota; Mrs. Emma Sherk, S. D.; William Dye, Cayuga, North Dakota; John Dye, Sioux City; Frank Dye, Revenue, Saskatchewan, Can.; Herbert Dye, Ethan, South Dakota; 32 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
He united with the M. E. church in early life and has always kept the faith and enjoyed his Christian experience.
