Died In Honduras; Body Now Rest In Gilbert Cemetery

Gilbert, June 8--The body of Floyd E. Jones, 35, former Gilbert boy, who died at Tela, Honduras, Central America, May 23, was laid to rest in the Gilbert cemetery Sunday afternoon, after services in the Congregational church, with Rev. Alec Russell in charge. Burial was in the Gilbert cemetery with Masonic honors.The body arrived on Saturday from its long trip from Nonduras [sic], where Mr. Jones had made hsi home for six years and where he had been marred and became the father of a baby boy. Death was due to a cerebral hemmorhage.
A quartette, consisting of B. D. Kent, C. Magges, A. L. Dickenson and Ralph Hillis, with Mrs. Thomas Gildersleeve at the piano sang "Abide with Me," "Lead Kindly Light" and "Day by Day."
The pallbearers were boyhood friends: William Jacobson, Lester Johnson, Galen Lake, Julius Olson, Henry Peterson and Clarence Jacobson.
The floral offerings were many and beautiful and the church was filled to capacity by relatives and sorrowing friends, many from a distance.
Floyd Jones, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Jones of this place was born at Buffalo Center June 3, 1903. The family came to Story county and located at Gilbert when Floyd was child of two years. Here he was raised, attended and graduated from the Gilbert Consolidated school in 1920 and grew to manhood. He attended Grinnell college, from which he graduated in 1926.
He left here about six years ago to take a position at Tela, in Honduras and there he was married in August 1936, to Matilda Demoutis, who with their baby son survive him.
He also leaves to mourn his death his parents, Mrs. and Mrs. Arthur Jones of Gilbert, brothers Earl Jones of Ogden, Utah, Ralph Jones of Boone and Clyde Jones of Des Moines and sisters Mrs. F. L. Wakefield and Mrs. Andrew Hughes of Gilbert.

McBroom and Mable of Grundy Center, Mrs. Martha Awtry, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Awtry of Newton; Helen Kramme of Nevada; Earl Jones of Ogden, Utah, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Jones and Virginia and Mrs. Groff of Boone.
