Funeral Rites for Mrs. A. D. LeFevre Held at Zearing

Zearing, May 2--Funeral rites for Mrs. LeFevre, 83, who died at the Mrs. Emma Wohlert Nursing Home in State Center Thursday evening, were held Saturday afternoon, April 29 at the Evangelical church in Zearing, with her pastor, Rev. R. E. Kerney, in charge.

Music was furnished by Mrs. Harry Martin and Mrs. Jerry Hankins with Mrs. Harold Hoffman at the piano. Casket bearers were Hillis Crain, Arthur Couser, William Young, John Gilmore, Ralph Norton and Ray Koepple. The flowers which were many and beautiful were cared for by Mrs. Clarence Allen and Mrs. Nels Johnson. The Morfoot Funeral home in Nevada was the mortician.

Following is the brief sketch of her life as read by the pastor.

"Mrs. A. D. LeFevre was born Emma Dell Sowers at Genoa, Ill., on July 26, 1860 an died at the Wohlert Nursing Home in State Center on April 26, 1944, at the age of 83 years an 3 months. She was one of a family of six children. The parents were Andrew and Judith Sower.

"On Oct. 26, 1881 she was united in marriage with A. D. Le Fevre. They came to Iowa in 1883, settling on a farm near Zearing. After farming for a number of years in the Zearing community, they came to Zearing in 1903, moving into a new house which they had built, and which has since continued to be the Le Fevre residence. Mr. Le Fevre passed away Sept. 7, 1935.

"Into the Le Fevere home were born four sons one dying in infancy. The others survive the mother and are Marion of Winthrop, Minn., Ralph and Harry, both of Zearing.

"Two brothers and a sister preceded Mrs. Le Fevre in death. A brother, Elmer Soere of Elgin, Ill., and a sister, Mrs. Jennie Stiles of Genoa, Ill., survive, also four grandchildren.

"Mrs. Le Fevre has been a member of the Zearing Evangelical church for 50 years and was president of the W. C. T. U. for several years."
