From Nevada Journal January 28, 1902 (page 1)

Maxwell.--Wm. Starr aged 75 years, after an illness of a week, died at his home Wednesday morning about 9:30 o'clock. Mr. Starr was one of the oldest residents of Maxwell, having come here about the time the town was started, from Monticello where he had been a very influential man, having served in the capacity of county supervisor of Jones county. Mr. Starr erected the residence he occupied at his death, when he first came to town and it was then one of the finest in town. Mr. Starr has always been a man of uprightness and integrity and is well known in both Polk and Story counties, also in Jones county from whence he came to this town. The funeral will be conducted Friday at 11:00 a. m. at the M. E. church and interment in the Maxwell cemetery.
