He has been a constant sufferer for almost a year and much of the time was confined to the house. His many friend had hoped he might be able to rally and be out again, but all the the best of medical skill and nursing could do failed to restore him.

In 1867 he was united in marriage with Elizabeth Linerode at Morrison, Ill. To this union were born four sons and three daughters--William A., Frank H., Melvin C. and Arthur J. Bunce and Berthat I. Bowman of Artesian, S. D.; Effie M. Marsden and Grace M. Watts of Boone county.
Soon after their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Bunce moved to Boone county and later to Story county, where Mr. Bunce lived on a farm until a few years ago, when he retired and has since lived in Gilbert.
Mr. Bunce came from one of the old-time large families. He was one of twelve children, only three of which are now living to mourn his loss.
Several years ago Mr. Bunce joined the Congregational church of Gilbert. He was always glad to extend the hand of fellowship to his pastor.
The funeral services were held from the Congregational church by his pastor on Friday afternoon, and his body was laid to rest in the Gilbert cemetery.
