When but an infant her parents moved to Illinois. Here she grew to womanhood and in September 1877 was united in marriage to F. M. Bell. To this union were born two sons and two daughters, one son, Harold, and one daughter Susie having preceeded the mother to the Spirit land. Those living are H. R. and Ione Bell of Gilbert. In 1894 Mr. and Mrs. Bell with their family came to Story county, Iowa and they settled on a farm near Gilbert, living there until the spring of 1903 when they moved to the Home in Gilbert where they have lived ever since with the exception of about two years spent in Mason City, Nebraska. Mrs. Bell when a girl heard the Master's call giving her heart to God and united with the Christian church. She was a good neighbor, a devoted wife, a tender mother and a sympathetic friend to all. Her unselfish devotion to her home and friends made her rich in love and affection of all who knew her. Mrs. Bell was an unusually strong character in the face of trial and deep sorrow, forgetting herself fro the sake of others. Her faith was fast and enduring and she quietly drew here support from that infinite one who said my Grace is sufficient for thee, and when the Boatman came to bear her over the tide, that same peace still possessed her and she calmly closed her eyes on this earth life to enter that eternal day where there shall be no more night; no need of a candle no light of the sun. For the Lord God giveth them light and they shall reign for ever and ever.
