DEATH OF AGED WOMAN

Roland Pioneer Was Almost Ninety Years of Age

Special to the Journal.
Roland, Dec. 19--Mrs. Joren Sevde, who was buried here last Tuesday was born near Stavanger, Norway, February 28, 1838, being almost 90 years old at the time of her death. Mrs. Sevde, before her marriage to Haldor Sevde, June 23, 1869 was Miss Joren Orton. In 1864 they emigrated in America, going first to Lisbon, Illinois, where they lived for several years, and moved to Roland, and lived here the remainder of their lives. Mr. Sevde passed away October 22, 1893.

Eleven children were born to this union, four of them preceded their mother in death. Those surviving are Mrs. Bertha Eide of Roland, Mrs. Julia Jondall of Botehwell, Wash., John Henricka and Carl Sevde and Mrs. Caroline Hemsing of Roland, and Gerhard Sevde of Roland. She also leaves a sister, Mrs. Aase Hereim of this place, and Tosten Orton of Volin, S. D.
