MABLE BARTON DIED; FUNERAL SUNDAY

WAS WELL KNOWN TEACHER AND HAD WIDE EXPERIENCE IN WORK

Miss Mabel V. Barton, 39, died at the home of her mother, Mrs. Emma Barton, 830 Seventh street, early Thursday morning after an illness of about two weeks, heart trouble being the cause of death.

The funeral services will be held at the home Sunday afternoon at 2:30, by her pastor, Rev. L. E. Watson of the Methodist church, after which interment will be in the Nevada cemetery by the side of her father, Rev. H. H. Barton who died here October 20, 1919.

Miss Barton had been engaged in educational work for many years, in fact since her graduation from Cornell college in 1909, with the exception of time taken out for special work at the University of Iowa Columbia University, N. Y., and the University of Chicago.

She had taught in various schools in Iowa, Montana, Washington, Wisconsin and Michigan, also at Morningside college, Sioux City and the State Normal at Marquette, Mich., and had accepted a position as critic and supervisor of the grade school at Stambaugh, Mich., for the coming year.

Miss Barton, a daughter of Rev. and Mrs. H. H. Barton, was born at Dunlap, Iowa, August 25, 1888. The father being a minister of the Methodist conference, the home shifted about the state from time to time until they finally took up their residence in Nevada in 1914, after the father had retired and sh came here as a teacher in the schools of the city. Here it was that the father died five years later, where the sister Muriel became the wife of Ernest Turkington, and where the mother has since had her home.

She had not been well for the past two years and had been at home but there had been an improvement in her condition indicated and she had accepted the position at Stambaugh for the coming year, before the final attack came and claimed her life.

Miss Barton was well known to many Nevada people, and was most highly respected for her many sterling qualities and also for her splendid attainments in the educational field.
