OBITUARIES

Mary Belle Ort
Aug. 31, 1907, to Sept. 11, 1991

Mary Bell Ort, 84, of Nevada died at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Des Moines, of a lung ailment.

She was born to James G. and Nellis J. (Harris) Burton in Harrison County, Mo. She lived in Nevada for the past 40 years and cooked for several local restaurants. On Nov.21, 1957 she married Jerry Ort who preceded her in death in 1975. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Nevada.

Survivors include four sons, James Spence of Poteet, Texas, Charles Spence of Nevada, William Spence of Branson, Mo., and Cecil Spence of Urbandale; one daughter, Iola Tallmadge of Rohnert Park, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and six sisters, Stella McBride of Nevada, Marjorie Hinkson of Portland, Ore., Josephine Lewis of Topeka, Kan., and Viola Hunter, Opal Massengill and Madeline Johnson, all of Bethany, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two sons, two grandsons, two brothers and one sister.

Visitation was held last Friday at Chet Ryan Mortuary, Nevada. Funeral services were held Saturday at First Christian Church with the Rev. Fred Danforth officiating. Burial was in the Nevada Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established.
