James K. McGuire, an old and respected citizen of Story county died of paralysis at the Soldiers Home in Marshalltown Sept. 17, 1895, aged 50 years. He was a member of Company L, 14th Iowa Cavalry. He was a strong and able bodied man, having had the first stroke but a little over a month ago. He leaves one daughter, Miss Edna, and several other relatives and a host of kind and loving friends. His wife, Anna R.*, preceded him some twelve years to the final resting place. The funeral was held Wednesday in Marshalltown conducted by Rev. Gage of that place.
