ROBERT A. WIER
Robert A. Wier was born at Bishops Mills, Ontario, Canada, August 27, 1852, and passed from this life to his heavenly home August 6, 1919, aged 66 years, 11 months and 21 days.
He grew to manhood in Canada and at the age of 21 he came to Colo, Iowa, where he made his home until the time of his death.
On May 2, 1876, he was united in marriage with Emma J. Bishop, this union being blessed with five children, three sons and two daughters, the daughters Opal and Ida having died at the ages of 5 and 1 years.
Mr. Wier was converted to Christ in the Methodist protestant church and later under the pastorate of Rev. Chas. Pickford, May 9, 1897 he was received into the United Evangelical church where he remained a faithful member. He served several terms on the board of trustees being elected as treasurer and representative to the quarterly conference. He was always anxious to do his part without being urged to do so.
He leaves to mourn his loss his wife, three sons, Charles of Des Moines and Frank and Orville of Colo. Two brothers William and Albert and two sisters Martha and Mattie all of eastern Canada and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held from the Calvary United Evangelical church by Rev. W. C. McKinley and the remains were laid to rest in the Colo cemetery. The sorrowing ones have the sympathy of all who know them.
