AN OLD SOLDIER PASSES AWAY
Jacob Horner died at his home in this city Wednesday morning after a continued illness of several years. Some years ago he had a stroke of paralysis and has not been a good health since. The funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church yesterday afternoon conducted by the Rev. Sanford and the remains were interred in the Nevada cemetery, the I. O. O. F. lodge having charge of the burial. Jacob Horner was born August 8, 1902. He leaves a wife, Mrs. Ruth Horner, two brothers, George of this city, William of Ames and one sister Mrs. Gula Scott of California. He was of Quaker parentage and lived within that society until the last few years of his life when he united with and remained a member of the Presbyterian church. Socially he was a member of the I. O. O. F., Masonic and G. A. R. He served about 18 months in the 10th Iowa Regiment during the war 1861 to 1865.
