Emmett R. Scott
Jan. 5, 1899, to May 18, 1994Emmett R. Scott, 95, of Maxwell, died of heart failure at Story County Long Term Care, Nevada.
He was born John and Kate (Smith) Scott in Iowa Center. He spent his lifetime in Story County where he worked as a farmer. On May 16, 1919, he married Bernette Tollefson. She died in 1938. In 1944, he married Opal Cook. she died in 1982. On Feb. 6, 1984, he married Eunice Settle in Nevada. He was a member of Maxwell United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Eunice, of Maxwell; his daughter, Eleanor Robertson of Maxwell; two sons, John Scott of Cambridge and Larry Scott of Omaha, Neb.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and his sister, Lulabelle Sesker of Collins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first two wives and his sister, Pearl Busenburg.
Funeral services were held May 21 at the Maxwell United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jonathon Chadwick officiating. Burial was in the Woodland Cemetery, Iowa Center. Cooper Funeral Home, Maxwell, was in charge of arrangements.
