Final Services For Chris Nelson Tuesday
Last rites for Chris Nelson, life long resident of Story county, were held Tuesday afternoon in Story City. A prayer service was held from the Larson-Peterson Funeral home at 1:30 followed by ceremonies from the Grace E.U.B. church at 2 o'clock with the Rev. W. D. Winter officiating.
Mrs. Everett Anderson and Mrs. Earl Anpperle sang "Beautiful Isle," "Does Jesus Care?" and "Come, Ye Disconsolate." Mrs. Alfred Jacobson accompanied on the organ. Interment was in the Center cemetery, southwest of Story City.
Serving as pallbearers were nephews of the deceased, Everett Hanna of Lone Rock, Harold Jensen of Marshalltown, Kenneth Bickelhaupt, Virgil Bickelhaupt, Ralph Nelson and Lloyd Peterson.
Obituary
Chris Nelson, son of John and Karen Marie Nelson, was born April 3, 1982, in Story county near Story City.
On Sept. 5, 1906, he was united in marriage to Rosie Bickelhaupt. To this union were born three, Irven, who died in infancy, Irene, now Mrs. Alfred West of Story City, and Violet, now Mrs. Thomas W. Johnson of Ames.
The Nelson family lived on a farm six miles northwest of Story City until 1929, when they moved to Story City where they have made their home ever since.
Mr. Nelson had been in failing health for the past year and bedfast the past five weeks. He died last Saturday afternoon, Sept. 23, at the age of 68 years, five months and 20 days.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, two daughters and five grandchildren. Also one sister, Mrs. Mary Peterson of Story City and two brothers, Walter of Ames and Peter of Stratford.
Two sisters preceded him in death.
