Pioneer Woman Was Laid to Rest

Special to the Journal.
Story City, Feb. 22--Mrs. Mary Bicklehaupt, 76, died at her home, west of town Saturday morning, after a short illness. Death was due to pneumonia and heart disease. She had been suffering with heart disease for several years. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Grace Evangelical church with Rev. L. L. Orth in charge. Burial was made in the Center cemetery by the side of her husband, who died 20 years ago.

Mrs. Bicklehaupt, who was 76 years old, was born in Germany, May 4, 1852 and came to this country when she was 4 years old. Before her marriage to Henry Biklehaupt in 1870 she was Miss Mary Burkenholtz of Monroe, Iowa. Shortly after their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Bicklehaupt moved to a farm six miles west of here where they always made their home. Mrs. Bickelhaupt lived in this community for 58 years. A few years ago she and her son Andrew moved to the latter's farm, one mile east of the Bickelhaupt homestead.

She leaves three daughters and three sons, namely: Mrs. Chris Nelson, Henry and Andrew Bickelhaupt, all of this place, Peter Bickelhaupt of Clark's Grove, Minn., Mrs. Tillie Hanna of Lone Rock and Mrs. J. T. Jensen of California. She also leaves a number of grandchildren and one sister of this place, Mrs. John Oswald.
