WILLIAM STARKEY
William S. Starkey, 75, of Story City died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1980 at the Story City Hospital.
He was born Nov. 28, 1905, in Des Moines, the son of Steven and Mary Starkey. He was raised in Story City by his foster parents, Julius and Minnie Knutson.
On June 16, 1938, he was married to Beulah Wicks. He was a veteran of WWII, and for 28 years owned and operated Starkey-Knutson Clothing. After retiring in 1964, he worked for seven years for Wards in Ames.
He is survived by his wife, Beulah; three sisters, Carrie Kessel of Des Moines, Mildred Winter of Ames and Helen McCall of Keystone, Ia.; and one brother, Floyd Starkey of Des Moines.
He was preceded in death by his parents and foster parents.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 3 at 1:30 p.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Story City, with Rev. Orville Sanderson officiating. Burial will follow in the Story City Municipal Cemetery.
Friends may call at Soderstrum-Larson Funeral Home, Story City, from Friday till time of service.
