OBITUARY OF MRS. KERSEY
Aged Milford Township Lady Passed Away.
Ann Kersey was born in the city of New York on March 22, 1848, and died at Iowa sanitarium August 21, 1916, aged 68 years, 4 months and 29 days. She had been in poor health for a number of years, and death followed an operation for gallstones performed a short time previous.
The deceased was born Ann Kinney and with her parents moved to Illinois, where her early childhood was spent and where she married Henry Kersey July 13, 1865. To this union were born nine children, all of whom she leaves except on daughter, Anna, who preceded her in death some years ago. Her husband also died several years ago.
Mr. and Mrs. Kersey moved to Story county over fifty years ago and have since lived on the farm northwest of town, where the most of their children were born and reared. Until her death on Monday of this week the home had not been left alone a single night in the more than fifty years it had been their home.
She leaves her children as follows: Mary Shaver, Salem, Ore.; Walter Kersey, Des Moines; Etta Talley, Ames; Will Kersey, Milford township; Fannie Frey, Nevada; and Frank, Fred and Iva Kersey at home. A sister, Mrs. P. K. Kelley, of Marshalltown, is also left to mourn her loss, as well as grandchildren and other relatives, besides many friends.
