Final Services For Edward Schavland

Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon, Aug. 18, in St. Petri church in Story City for Edward Egil Schavland, 13, who had lived in this country only three weeks. The Rev. S. T. Nelson, who officiated, conducted the services in the Norwegian language and also sang a Norwegian hymn. Burial was in the Story City cemetery.

Born in Stavanger, Norway, Dec. 20, 1935, he accompanied by his mother, Mrs. Ingolf Schavland, a sister, Solveig, and a brother, Magne, immigrated to the United States, arriving in Story City on July 25, to join Mr. Schavland and another daughter, Edna, who had preceded the rest of the family here in February. The newcomers have been making their home here temporarity with Einar Schavlands.

Edward passed away on Aug. 15, survived by his parents, his brother and two sisters.
