Fred W. Renfeldt Funeral Services Held In Collins

Funeral services for Fred W. Renfeldt, 73, were held Monday, July 23, 1962 at 2 p.m. at the Collins Methodist Church with the Rev. James N. Louk, pastor, officiating, with burial at the Collins Evergreen cemetery.

Music was furnished by Miss Linda Atwood, organist; Mrs. Stanley Metchell and Mrs. Robert Schmitt sang "The Lord Is My Shepherd" and "The City Foursquare." Mrs. Jerry Good sang "God's Tomorrow."

Flowers were cared for by Mrs. Harold Hale and Mr. Edward Smith.

The pallbearers were Berle Robinson, Harold Hale, Richard Holland, Robert Graves, D. O. Luing and Wes McWherter.

The noon meal and lunch were served by the Ruth Circle of the Methodist Church, the Legion Auxiliary and Rebecca Circle.

Services were directed by Brouhard Funeral Home in Zearing.

Life Sketch

Fred W. Renfeldt, son of William and Addie Renfeldt, was born September 9, 1888, in Sac City, Iowa. and lived in Holstein as a child.

He was united in marriage to Lena Southern of Collins on September 21, 1911, at the United Brethren parsonage in Des Moines. Last September they observed their golden wedding anniversary. To this union six children were born. They lived in Holstein until 1920, at which time they moved to Collins. Among Mr. Renfeldt's occupations were those of a brakeman on the railroad, an expert telegrapher; and he had artistic talent. He was a member of the Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Lena, and his children. Orpha Cattnach and Lois McClain, Sacramento, California; Daisy Laughlin, Marshalltown; Helen Bianchi, Collins; David of Alburnett, and Lowell of Des Moines. All six of Mr. Renfeldt's children were present at the services. He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. W. R. Bleasdell, Long Beach, California; three nephews; nineteen grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.

Renfeldt was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister, a great grand-daughter, and recently a grand-daughter, Sue Battles Ayule, who grew up in their home.

Mr. Renfeldt died at St. Thomas Hospital in Marshalltown, Iowa, after a lingering illness on July 19, 1962 at the age of 73 years, 10 months, and 10 days. His death was due to hypostatic pneumonia.
