Fall Is Fatal For Mrs. Peder Quam At Home of Son

Mrs. Peder Quam, 75, Story City, died Monday afternoon at 3:20 p.m. as the result of an unusual accident suffered at the hoe of her son, Porter Quam, who farms just west of Story City.

She had bone to the son's home to visit and was going up some steps outside when she lost her footing and fell to the stone patio below. Her skull was fractured in the fall. She was taken by ambulance to a hospital in Des Moines and she died enroute.

Mrs. Quam was born April 16, 1889 in Story County to Peter and Anna Frette.

Surviving are her husband, Peder of Story City; two sons, Porter and Howard; three daughters, Pearl (Mrs. Hans Grotness), Irene (Mrs. Roy W. Johnson) and Lorene (Mrs. Kenneth Bickelhaupt); all of Story City; twelve grandchildren and two great grandchildren. A sister, Mrs. Julia Townswick, Story City also survives.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 7 at 2 p.m. at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Story City with Rev. Quentin Quanbeck in charge. Burial will be in the Story City Municipal Cemetery. Friends may call at the Larson Funeral Home until noon Friday.
