Services Tues. in Story C. for Mae Peterson, 77
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Grace United Methodist Church in Story City for Mrs. Mae L. Peterson, 77, of that city. Mrs. Peterson did of a heart attack Saturday morning, Oct. 5, at the Story City Memorial Hospital about 9:45 a.m., a half hour after being admitted.
The deceased was born at Lake Benton, Minn. Aug. 29, 1891. July 28, 1923 she married Lewis Peterson and the couple engaged in farming near Lake Benton from 1923-36. They moved then to Balaton, Minn. where they acquired the Gem Theater and operated that business until 1947 when they and their two sons, Richard and Virgil, moved to Story City to operate the theater they purchased. The movie house was managed by Mrs. Peterson and her sons until her death.
Surviving are her step-sons, Virgil and Richard of Story City and Wayne of Cottonwood, Minn., two stepdaughters, Miss Neva Peterson of Des Moines and Mrs. Helen M. Korchak of Bremerton, Wash.; two grandsons; three sisters, Mrs. Wilbur Bennett, Sioux Falls, S.D., Mrs. Hans Rasmussen, Los Angeles, and Mrs. Jack McKinney of San Martin, Calif., one half-sister, Mrs. Earl Lane, of Bremerton, Wash., and one half-brother, Fred Strong, of Mankato, Minn.
Mrs. Peterson was preceded in death by her husband in 1960.
Rev. Paul Beckman will have charge of the service with burial in the Story City Municipal Cemetery. The body will like in state at the Soderstrum-Larson Funeral Home.
