DEATHS
Mrs. Matilda Paulson
Funeral services for Mrs. Matilda Paulson were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20. Rev. Paul H. Beckman officiated at the services in the Grace United Methodist Church, Story City.
Mrs. Dorrel Doolittle, organist, accompanied Mrs. Robert Hermanson, soloist as she sang 'How Great Thou Art' and 'The Lord's Prayer.'
Pallbearers were Leonard Johnson, Milford Johnson, Franklin Paulson, Delbert Johnson, John Egenes and Don Varnum.
Burial was in the Story City Municipal Cemetery.
Matilda Paulson, daughter of Morton and Christina Johnson was born Oct. 12, 1881 on a farm west of Story City and died at Ritter's Oakwood Manor in Clear Lake, Oct. 17.
She grew up in the Story City area and on July 14, 1902 she was united in marriage to Peter C. Paulson. They lived for a brief time in Story City, and then spent five years in Oklahoma before returning to Story City. In 1947, her husband died. Shortly thereafter she went to Ames to live with her daughter, Esther. Then in 1969, she went to live in Oakwood Manor in Clear Lake.
She was a longtime member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Story City.
Those who preceded her in death were her husband, Peter; a son, Harold Paulson and a daughter Leora.
Survivors are a son Melburn of Mason City; a daughter, Mrs. Esther Roberson of Hastings, Minn.; a sister, Mrs. Emma Paulson of Story City; five grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
