Julia Merkel Died at Home Near Story City

Story City, Nov. 28--Miss Julia Merkel, 75, for nearly 70 years a resident of this community, died at her home west of Story City Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock, after a brief illness from uremic poisoning.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, with prayer at the home at 1:30 and the funeral at Center schoolhouse at 2:00, followed by interment in the Merkel family lot in Center cemetery. Rev. C. D. Wendell will officiate.

Miss Merkel was a native of Denmark and came to this country with her parents at the age of seven years and had lived all of her life since that time in the neighborhood.

Her parents are dead, she had neither brother nor sister living and is survived only by an adopted son, George Merkel.
