From Story County Watchman May 18, 1894 (page 4)

Collins Clipper: ...Last Friday Thoms Bromley, Esq., administrator of the estate of John McVey, who was killed by the cars the 7th of August last, received from the hands of Will Cook, agent of the C. M. & St. Paul R'y. at this place a draft for $2,250 in payment for the death of Mr. McVey, through an accident.

--The Milwaukee Road has paid $2,250 in settlement of claim for the death of John McVey, who was killed by the cars last August.
