Many Attend Rites For Albert Larson

Following a prayer service at the home, funeral rites for Albert S. Larson, who died suddenly of a heart attack at his home in his home in Story City Monday evening, Jan. 3, were held in the St. Petri Lutheran church on Saturday afternoon.

The vast throng of people which filled the church, including the basement where the services were held over the sound system, bespoke the high esteem which they held for the departed man.

The choir of which Mr. Larson had been a member for the past two years, sang "One Sweetly Solemn Thought" and their director, Mrs. Robert Kenny, sang "The Lord's Prayer."

Serving as casket bearers were C. F. Johnson, Magne Idso, Martin Henryson, Martin O. Holland, Omar Teglan and L. O. Jacobson. Interment was in the Story City cemetery.

Besides the many beautiful floral tributes which surrounded the casket of the departed, a total $477 was given in memorial gifts.

Obituary

Albert Severin Larson, the son of Eric and Bertha Larson, was born in Story City, Iowa, on Dec. 8, 1884. At the age of two years he moved with his parents and family Ihlen, Pipestone county, Minnesota. Where he grew to manhood and at the age of 15 he was confirmed in the Eden Lutheran church in Ihlen.

In 1910, he was united in marriage to Randie Holm of Story City. Two children were born to this union, Marcella and Eleanor. The family resided at Ihlen, where Mr. Larson farmed for several years ant then at Jasper, where he was in the garage business for nine years. In 1923 the family moved to Story City where they have lived for the past 25 years.

The deceased has been an active member of the church throughout his life. Since his confirmation he has bee an regular members in the church choir. He has given evidence of his love for music and his church and his Saviour by 50 years of active choir service, as well as holding many other offices in the church. Twenty-five of these years were given to St. Peti choir. His last piece of work was for his church. By his request, lest it should lag too close to the time of the annual meeting, the nominating committee met in the church parlors to prepare a ballot of nominations on Monday evening, Jan. 3. When he returned home shortly after nine o'clock, he was stricken with a severe heart attack and passed away about 10:30 that night at the age of 64 years and 23 days.

Not only will the loss be felt in the family, but his work in the Holm Hardware has brought him in contact with a large group of people. The community will sense a great loss.

Surviving are his wife, Randie; one daughter, Mrs. Robert Brooks, Marcella; one sister, Miss Hannah Larson of Minneapolis, two brothers, Eric and Peter of Pipestone, Minn.; one grandson Paul Albert Brooks, and a large group of relatives and friends.

One daughter, Eleanor, preceded him in death on March 20, 1948.
