DEATHS

Lewis O. Hauge

Funeral services fro Lewis O. Hauge were held in Immanuel Lutheran Church, Story city on Friday afternoon, June 7 at two o'clock with Pastor C. A. Gisselquist officiating. Mrs. Clara Anderson sand, "Blessed Assurance." The hymn "What A Friend We Have In Jesus" was sung by the congregation. Mrs. Harold Olson was organist. Pall bearers were Arvie S. Jacobson, Arnold Johnson, Charles Hunter, Donald Johnson, James Thorson and Myron Smuck. Burial was in the Story City Cemetery.

Lewis Ollie Hauge, son of Ole and Rachel Hauge, was born in Grundy County, Illinois, August 6, 1878. He was baptized and confirmed in the Hauge Lutheran Church near Morris, Illinois. On October 15, 1902 he was united in marriage to Cora Thorson. She passed away shortly after they had celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary.

The family moved from Illinois to Story City, Iowa in 1915. He continued to farm until 1938 when he and his wife moved to Story City he was employed in mason work. he was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church since 1915. Being at the time of his death the oldest member of the congregation. The past five years he had lived with his daughter and son-in-law, Chaplain and Mrs. Rudolph Anderson at Iowa City, Iowa.

Mr. Hauge was preceded in death by his wife Cora; his wife Cora, his parents, three sons, one grandson, four sisters, and three brothers. He is survived by one daughter, Erma (Mrs. Rudolph Anderson) of Iowa City; seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
