George S. Hall Funeral Services Held In Story City
Funeral services for George Hall were held Monday afternoon, Aug. 13 at 2 p. m. in the St. Petri Lutheran Church in Story City. Pastor Pernie Pederson was the officiating pastor.
Mrs. Robert Hermanson sang "Come Ye Disconcolate" and "Through the Love of God the Father." Mrs. Joel Jacobson was organist.
Burial was in the Story City Municipal cemetery. Pallbearers were Dean Thompson, Gary Thompson, Gerald Schauper, Junior Schauper, Kenneth Smith and Harlan Hall.
Life Sketch
George Sherman Hall, son of Goodman Hall and the late Mrs. Hall, was born in Story County on Sept. 23, 1912 and died Aug. 10, at the University Hospital at Iowa City at the age of 49 years, 10 months and 18 days. On Nov. 12, 1934 he was united in marriage to Arlene Hazel Sansgaard. To this union were born three daughters and two sons.
As a youth he was baptized at the Salem Lutheran Church at Roland. He lived in Story County most of his life except for seven years when he lived in Winnebago County.
He was preceded in death by one infant son, Phillip Duane; and by his mother and a brother, Si.
Survivors include his wife, Arlene; three daughters, Mrs. LaVerne (Alma) Baker of Boone, Mrs. Albert (Ruby) Borton of Roland and Mrs. Clarence (Dorothy) Borton of Rockwell City; and a son, Richard, serving in the armed forces in Germany; also four grandsons, David Baker, Larry and Jerry Borton and Marvin Borton.
Also surviving are his father, Goodman Hall; three brothers, John of Jewell, Joe of Ellsworth and Ben of Alden; five sisters, Bertha of Story City, Mrs. Harold (Esther) Schauper of Radcliffe, Mrs. Olaf (Gladys) Munson of Rockford, Ill., Mrs. Orville (Mayme) Larson of Roland and Mrs. Sherman (Sadie) Thompson of Ames.
