Margaret Isabel Highbarger, 84, Ames, died Tuesday of cerebral hemorrhage at Mary Greeley Medical Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Cecilia Catholic Church with the Rev. Dismas Veeneman officiating. Burial will be in Ames Municipal Cemetery.
Margaret Scollon was born in Denver, Colo. to Peter Joseph and Mary (Keane) Scollon. A graduate of Rinard (Iowa) High School and of Drake University, she married Samuel C. Highbarger in Sioux City on June 11, 1931. She worked as a homemaker. Her memberships included St. Cecilia Catholic Church; St. Rita’s Circle; Altar and Rosary Society; and Catholic Daughters of America.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Jo Fowler of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel C. Highbarger on July 11, 1986; a son; two brothers; and a sister.
Visitation will be held Friday from 7 to 9 p.m., at Adams Funeral Home. A scripture service will be at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to First bank.
